Many of our readers have school-aged children or maybe even grandchildren, who are headed back to school, signaling the unofficial end of summer. Whether your child or grandchild is in elementary school or away at college, this transition time brings many changes both inside and outside of the home. Your home might be quieter and perhaps your neighborhood too, at least until the school bell rings at the end of the day. Roadways become crowded with buses and the local high school’s sporting events are in full swing.
All of this activity can make us miss the days when we too headed off to school at this time of year, with all of the possibilities that awaited a new school year. Don’t you wish sometimes you could go back to school too? If that sounds like something you’d like to do, we recommend you visit your local community college or university and find out if they offer discounts or scholarships for adult learners – many do.
There are also a few mobile Apps that you might find both useful and educational. If you aren’t interested in actually attending classes but like a seminar setting, then TED talks might be right up your alley or perhaps you can find something of interest at iTunesU. Both choices are accessible through your mobile device and the links to them as well as other educational Apps can be found on our Education page.
